We supply polycarbonate sheets for shelters

Do you have a broken shelter that needs replacing but you don’t want to replace the whole structure?

We supply oversized sheets of unbreakable polycarbonate and are able to cut them to size, if required to do so. These are perfect for use for bike shelters, trolley shelters, player dugouts and, bus or tram shelters.

We specialise in tight time frames and offer same day plastic supply, cutting, shaping, gluing, bending and drilling for businesses and homes throughout London.

Our clear polycarbonate sheets provide maximum visibility and are class 1 fire rated. They can be purchased in different thicknesses. We normally recommend using between 3mm and 6mm for shelters, with most of our customers opting to use 4mm or 6mm.

Why are polycarbonate sheets used for shelters?

They are widely used in bike shelters and bus shelters because polycarbonate is strong, safe, with good light transmission. Polycarbonate sheets are also weather resistant and performs well in rain, snow, hail, and wind. It is a material which is suitable for both hot summers and freezing winters, with the ability to withstand temperatures from approximately –40°C to +120°C.

Our polycarbonate sheets are UV-protected which prevents yellowing and brittleness. The typical life of a polycarbonate sheet used outdoors is 10-15 years, so they are suitable for long-term outdoor exposure.

Polycarbonate is also light, much lighter than glass. Therefore it is easier to transport, install and replace. As it is lighter it reduces the structural load on shelter frames.

Another benefit is that it is a material which is easy to clean with just soap and water. Polycarbonate can also be recycled once it is no longer required.
