Acrylic is the material of choice for many of our customers for their interior staircases or outside balconies.
Our customers prefer acrylic balustrades because they don’t break as easily as glass, but are just as clear as glass.
Recently we were approached by a customer who had a recurring problem with the glass balustrades in his house shattering at random. He had tried replacing them with glass, but the same thing happened. So he was looking for a more robust solution. After Shankar spoke to us and received advice about how to draw the panels he needed from us, we were able to supply him with cut to size 10mm acrylic that fitted perfectly.
“Excellent advice and service provided by the team at Abplas to help me swap out a shattered glass balustrade with an Acrylic replacement which won’t shatter in the future. I was sent samples of the plastics to choose which best matched the other panels in place, and following placing the order my piece was ready within a few days. Extremely happy with the end product and I’ll be using again if I have any issues with other glass panels.“

Acyclic is also 98% recyclable. We are dedicated to reducing waste, increasing efficiency and reusing and recycling waste wherever possible. We will always try to get the maximum amount of usage out of each sheet of material, with as little waste as we can. Therefore, if a plastic is required for a short-term use, we would generally recommend using acrylic or polycarbonate. This is due to their recycling properties. We offer free recycling of any acrylic or Polycarbonate, purchased from us.
We also supply recycled acrylic sheets which are also perfect for using for acrylic balustrades.
Here is a step by step build to fitting your own balustrades. In this example they use glass, but fitting acrylic would be exactly the same principle.
